Terms of Use

Last updated 6 June 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Thindi. By using the site or posting a verdict, you agree to them — so it's worth a read.

1. Agreement to these terms

Thindi (“Thindi”, “we”, “us”) runs a community service that ranks dishes — not restaurants — across Bengaluru, at thindi.appand any related pages or apps (the “Service”). By accessing the Service, browsing rankings, creating an account, or posting any content, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please don’t use the Service.

2. What Thindi is — and isn’t

Thindi is an information and community platform. We collect verdicts from people who’ve actually eaten a dish and turn them into rankings. We are not a restaurant, a food delivery service, or a payment service, and we are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any restaurant, café, or food business listed on the Service.

  • Rankings and scores are opinions — the aggregated views of our community — and are provided for general information only.
  • We do not sell food, take orders, or guarantee the availability, price, quality, or safety of any dish or establishment.
  • Listings of places, dishes, photos and outlet details are maintained for reference and may be incomplete, out of date, or inaccurate.

3. Eligibility

You may browse public rankings freely. To create an account or post content, you must be at least 18 years old and capable of forming a binding contract under the Indian Contract Act, 1872. By creating an account you represent that you meet these requirements.

4. Your account

You can sign in using Google or a phone number (one-time password). You are responsible for the activity under your account and for keeping access to your sign-in method secure. Provide accurate information, and let us know promptly if you suspect any unauthorised use. We may refuse, suspend, or reclaim a username (handle) that is misleading, infringing, impersonating, or offensive.

5. Your content and the licence you give us

“Your Content” means anything you submit — verdicts, ratings, written notes, photos, lists, your handle, display name, bio and avatar. You retain ownership of Your Content. By posting it, you grant Thindi a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sub-licensable licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt, publish, publicly display and distribute Your Content in connection with operating and promoting the Service (including in rankings, share cards and social posts).

You confirm that, for everything you post:

  • it is your own honest, first-hand experience, or you otherwise have the right to share it;
  • you own or have permission to use any photos, and they don’t infringe anyone’s rights or privacy;
  • it doesn’t breach the community rules below or any applicable law.

6. Community rules

Thindi only works if verdicts are real. You agree not to:

  • post fake, paid, incentivised, or dishonest ratings or reviews, or rate a dish you haven’t actually had;
  • manipulate rankings — for example through multiple or fake accounts, bots, vote-trading, or coordinated rating;
  • post content that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, hateful, harassing, threatening, or that invades another person’s privacy;
  • impersonate any person or business, or misrepresent your affiliation with one;
  • post spam, advertising, or solicitations, or scrape, crawl, or harvest data from the Service without our written permission;
  • upload malware, attempt to breach security, disrupt the Service, or access it through unauthorised automated means.

If you are a restaurant owner or have a commercial interest in a place, you must not rate your own (or a competitor’s) dishes. Reach out to us instead.

7. Rankings integrity & moderation

We don’t accept payment to raise, lower, or feature any dish or place — no paid placements, ever. We may, at our discretion and without notice, moderate, re-weight, hide, or remove content and verdicts (including for suspected manipulation), and adjust how scores are calculated, to keep rankings honest. We are an intermediary and don’t pre-screen content, but we may review and act on it.

8. Reporting content & grievances

If you believe content on the Service is unlawful, infringes your rights, or breaks these terms, please contact our Grievance Officer (details in section 16). In line with India’s Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, we will acknowledge a valid complaint within 24 hours and aim to resolve it within 15 days. We may remove reported content while we review it.

9. Intellectual property

The Service itself — the Thindi name, logo (the cloche), wordmark, design, software, the way scores are computed, and our original text — belongs to Thindi and is protected by law. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from it except as these terms allow. Dish, place, and brand names belong to their respective owners and are used for identification only.

10. Third-party places, links & services

The Service references third-party establishments and may link to third-party sites (such as maps or directions). We don’t control and aren’t responsible for those places or sites, their content, availability, or practices. Visiting them is at your own risk and subject to their terms.

11. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that rankings, scores, listings, or other information are accurate, complete, or current. You are responsible for your own choices — including any food allergies, dietary needs, or health considerations. Always check directly with an establishment before relying on anything you read here.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Thindi and the people behind it will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service, your reliance on any content, or your dealings with any establishment. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to ₹1,000 (one thousand rupees) in the aggregate.

13. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Thindi from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from Your Content, your use of the Service, or your breach of these terms.

14. Suspension & termination

You can stop using the Service at any time and ask us to delete your account (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or terminate your access — and remove your content — if you breach these terms, create risk for Thindi or others, or where we’re required to by law. Sections that by their nature should survive (content licence for already-posted content, intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, indemnity, governing law) survive termination.

15. Changes to the Service and these terms

We’re building Thindi in the open and may add, change, or remove features. We may also update these terms from time to time; if we make material changes we’ll update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, give notice in the app. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.

16. Governing law, jurisdiction & contact

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Subject to any rights you have under applicable law, the courts at Bengaluru, Karnataka have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute relating to the Service.

Questions, notices, or grievances? Contact our Grievance Officer on Telegram at t.me/koshikraj or message us on Instagram @thindi.app.

Thindi is an early-stage, independent project. These terms are written to be fair and readable rather than exhaustive; we’ll keep refining them as the product grows.
